Fighting obesity for kids: Why healthy living and sports are vital for our future generation

Latest statistics have revealed that most of the children living in North America are overweight. America leads the world in the count of chubby children and days are not far when entire globe will be a home for obesity. Nowadays, people cannot even perform routine task efficiently and you cannot teach new tricks to an old dog.

Healthy eating habits must be developed in kids from childhood, as it becomes very difficult to change the general lifestyle when you grow older. Active interest of kids in sports can be a boon to healthy living. Not only sports but cheerleading can also fill in strength, invigorate and burn your extra fats. Cheerleaders are undoubtedly beautiful and their cheerleading uniforms from VCU are also attractive but what makes them look stunning is their fit and healthy body.

  • The most imperative key to healthy body is adequate rest, consistent physical activity and proper diet. Playing sport demonstrates a perfect way to re-energize your strength and gratify requirement of consistent exercise. Sports activities demand a constant progress in cardio-vascular strength, which is normally addressed by swimming laps, perpetual motion and running. Parents must encourage children to participate actively in sports events whether socially or academically. To draw attention of viewers towards sports events, sponsors hire cheerleaders outfitted in custom cheerleading uniforms.
  • Cheerleaders not only re-instate strength in viewers but also in players. There is no doubt that appreciation motivates players and encourages them to perform more effectively. Every proponent has different cheerleading uniforms that portray the symbol of the playing team. Sports event impose positive effect on stress level, heart and mental health. For a productive future and healthy survival, it is very important to boast active involvement in physical activities.

Business Case: Various Efforts about Kids Understanding Peace and Politics

It is very impressive to include in a particular business case the need to introduce peace and politics to kids. The business case for the style and process may vary but the end goal remains the same and that is to make kids more aware of how they should behave so that tolerating misbehavior, unintentional discrimination, and other culture-sensitive activities is prevented.

Another concern in which kids can be exposed at such young age is to learn how to manage their money well. Tell them how money works today. Give them scenarios in which they are challenged to choose the right option. Motivate them through positive reinforcements; appreciate how they are able to save money and how they refuse to buy things that are not really necessary and significant at the moment.

Another current concern today is the safety of children from violence and abuse. They cannot be forever ignorant of this troublesome world. However, it does not mean that at their age, they can easily understand what is going on or personally experience any traumatic event.

Thus, it is important that they must be constantly reminded to be at the right place at the right time. They should avoid going to places that pose potential threats and harm. Further, kids must learn how to surf the internet more responsibly. There must also be means of enhancing their response behavior and skills when dealing with possible emergencies.

More importantly, the surroundings must not be described to kids in a too pessimistic or too optimistic manner. Allow kids to appreciate better and assess better by showing them both negative and positive aspects of an event, perspective, or behavior.

Another important component related to peace and politics is to be logical and sensible in your discussions with the kids. If you are talking about emotionally challenging experiences or future circumstances, their age and capacity to understand must be well considered. Further, if they are very curious and adventurous, allow them enough freedom but know exactly when to interfere and how to correct them if they are quite wrong or perhaps exploring things that are unsuitable for their age.

Classroom education is also a good training ground for all kinds of kids in learning how to be social and political in their actions and values in life. Thus, educators must be fully aware of the opportunities that classroom education can offer in building future citizens who are free and responsible for what they think, say, and do.

Diet and the Future

More than ever our food is being adulterated. This is partly due to the logistical pressures of producing enough food to feed the ever growing world population. It used to be that agriculture employed one third of the world’s population. Industrialization has changed this and influenced agriculture. Food can be grown quicker by not only using fertilizers and pesticides, but also by applying conveyor belt principles to producing food.

These principles have lead to unspeakable cruelty to animals. In America people no longer ‘raise’ chickens, they now ‘grow’ chickens. Animals have been downgraded to something less then sentient. Growing chickens involves incarceration in dark warehouses, continual antibiotic sprays and a diet designed to produce bulk and fat not muscles. Turkey production is even worse. The birds are so far from their natural state they cannot even breed without human assistance. Dairy cows are similarly mistreated. It is not suitable to describe the treatment of animals in the food system as ‘inhumane’ because they are not human. It is nevertheless intolerably cruel.

It is not only the animals that suffer. Humans that consume the meat and other products from animals are also being affected. Hormone laced meat is making young girls reach pubescence unnaturally early. This is just one example of how agribusiness products are effecting people, especially young people.

We must boycott the most harmful of agribusiness products. We must do more research into the dangers of chemicals in food production, and we must do more to support initiatives to make food cleaner and healthier for young people. We should educate the young in the benefits of drinking organic coconut milk. In eating organic vegetables and fruit. In eating a variety of food stuffs. America is dominated by corn and soy. Other staples must be encouraged. This can only happen by educating the young about healthy eating. They will hopefully pass this down to their children.

Not only will people start to be healthier, but no doubt they will also be mentally healthier and less likely to fall victims of  Ritalin and the like.

Peace Through Financial Stability

Our children have the future of the world at their young hands.  If we can teach them to attain stability in their personal lives, then peace will inevitably prosper.  An important aspect of stability in one’s life is being stable financially.  We need to teach our children the importance of saving for retirement by using a 401k calculator suited to their specific situation.

A 401k calculator can be a helpful resource for mapping out your retirement goals. If you are over 40 years of age, you will definitely need to start planning for your retirement. The 401k calculation system helps people figure out how much money they will have with their investment plans.

This calculation system covers variables such as your earnings and value of assets to determine how much you will be able to save. The retirement planning calculators are simple tools for figuring out the percentages and numbers. Remember that your money is a means of looking after you when you no longer work and you can live the dream life you have always wanted.

Using this calculation tool can be a rewarding experience as it helps you assess the way you want to live after you have retired. It is advisable to speak to a financial consultant beforehand so that you can set yourself realistic goals and targets. Whatever amount of money you invest will not be taxable unless you withdraw it early.

If you are uncertain about how much you get out of this scheme, whenever you retire, the 401k calculation will fill in all the details. You must enter your annual income, how often you are paid and once you have done this, the calculator asks your age, marital status and your household position. You will also have to include the number of exceptions that are stated on your W2 tax form.

Next, the calculation tool will ask you to include details of your plan. You will have to answer the questions about the expected returns on your investment, and there will be a list of different levels of personal contribution for making comparison. The calculator will then give you the option of including narrative, and you will have to state whether your investment plan is traditional or the Roth 401k type. The projected returns on your savings for each level of individual contribution will be shown, so you can decide on the most suitable plan for your own needs.

These types of retirement calculation tools are only appropriate for those people who want to find out exactly how they should live after they stop working. These machines are simply telling you how much money you can receive at your current rate. So if you are not sure about what kind of life you want to live, this tool will not be useful to you.

It is therefore important for every working person to set themselves realistic and attainable financial goals for their future. When people retire, they do not want to struggle with paying their bills and other expenses, so it is highly recommended to plan out your future carefully with the help of online calculators.

After figuring out what you want, determine how much it will cost. At this point, you will work out whether or not it is enough to support you and your family. Using a 401k calculator, people can live the lifestyle they want affordably when they stop working.

Homeschooling and Online Dating

Homeschooling and Online Dating
Homeschooling has become rampant in America and Canada today. Many parents feel that they are much more in control of their children education once they are homeschooling. Many people cite several challenges that come from being home schooled. The main issue about homeschooling is socializing. Many home schooled kids need friends and they may be limited to those only in the home schooled group. However, this is not much of a problem with the involvement of the various services that are found from the internet. Lack of friends is a thing of the past with the idea of online dating.

Online dating sites are available for kids and they have the required limitations for kids to find friends and dates. When alone at home, one can find other home schooled children online via forums or via Facebook. The problem for many home schooled children remains finding love and here in Montreal I recommend you start using sites de rencontre gratuit in French or free dating sites in English. These safe, sensible students’ sites and teen chat rooms are able to allow students and other home schooled people to socialize. Kids are free of lack of friends when the online chats provide various topics on which kids can participate. It is very easy to find peers who have similar interests and strong friendships are built. Various activities are also offered in these sites for kids to participate with friends while having lots of fun. Video games, movies and TV shows are incorporated in these sites to bring kids together from all over the world. It is important for parents who provide education to their children at home to have them participate in these online dating and chat rooms to help them find friends.
High school kids who are home schooled would benefit a lot from online dating. Many complain of lack of friends and this can be solved easily without having to be enrolled in an actual school. Online discussions are available and help instructions are included in the sites. Kids will not just be educated but also they will achieve social skills both online and offline. The sites are very safe and parents should counter check what services are offered before allowing their kids to join the sites. All the information will be availed and parents will have no cause to worry on their children accessing inappropriate information.
The kids who join online dating are able to create a good profile and be honest about their skills and interests. Parents can be able to supervise their kids so that they do not spend the whole day on the computer but enough time to meet and chat with friends. Kids can share education tips with their friends online and help each other with education matters. Online sites can be very beneficial to kids if used appropriately.

Stopping Cyber Bullying – Teach Kids Peace

Social media has become increasingly popular with many young people today. It is possible to connect with friends and family through sites like Facebook. However, these sites have being misused by malicious people or kids who result to harassing others. Parents, kids, social networking sites and social dating sites have to be proactive and be aware that cyber bullying is a major problem. Various things should be put into consideration to prevent cyber bullying within the social media. The major issue is educating ourselves and understanding social networking as well as cyber bullying.

Parents should be able to learn and get acquainted with social media as well as dating sites. Knowledge on how these sites work and how kids interact with them is very important. In most cases, sites like Facebook have an age limit that kids below a certain age cannot join. If this is the case, the parent should be able to implement this rule in the home. Dating sites are mainly for the older people and therefore, parents should ensure their kids do not join these sites. These dating websites are also used by kids to harass others about their appearance and profile information. If the child does not join these sites then it is easier to bring down the bullying. A good dating site that I can recommend to university students is match4me as it has a strict member policy where bullying is not allowed. Also with online dating sites in Belgium, it is very important to respect each other as much as we can. Parents and teachers should encourage kids to make peace with one another and avoid hurting other people. If one is a parent, ensure that you are in peace with your neighbors and the kid’s friends. Monitor what kids do online just as you monitor what they do offline. It is very necessary to have your children’s password from social media sites. For university students, I would focus on joining paid online dating sites such as Match4Me to be sure there are only relationship minded people on that site. With free dating sites there can be a chance that you are singled out to bully as now everybody knows you are single and looking for love. The kids should be allowed to have an online account if they give the parent the password so that the parents monitor what the kids do online. It is important for parents to stay involved with their children and develop close relationships. In this way, children will be more open to them and approach them when they have problems in school or in social media.

For parents whose children are in dating sites must ensure that they teach kids computer etiquette and caution them against posting images or information that they would not want everyone to see. Parents should encourage their children to spend more time with their friends or family offline more than spending hours on the computer. Online dating sites such as Match 4 Me should only be allowed to be used when they go to college in order to find a equally high educated partner. Sites like Facebook should be used on a limited amount of time.

Kids need to know money management

YOURTEXTEvery kid is different in his/her own right. In the challenging world today, kids need right kind of nurturing and upbringing. Education is an important aspect of any child’s development as it teaches them to become responsible and sane citizens. However, one important subject that is life changing yet is not taught in schools is the subject of money. Kids must be taught about money from an early stage say from the age of 10. It is rather strange and perhaps a little upsetting that money in many families is not discussed openly.

Money management teaches kids to understand how it is earned and more importantly, where they must spend it. Majority of people who struggle financially are the ones who are weak at handling money. Many of these people think that having more money solves their problems but the fact of the matter is that it is lack of financial literacy that causes them to fail. If you want your kid to succeed in life then it is important to make him/her understand how money works.

The best way to approach this subject is when you’ve heaps of time on hand. Create a calm and serene atmosphere. It is good to get some snacks and juices using the latest Breville 800JEXL for something to go with the conversation. Softly break the topic and listen to what your kid thinks about the topic before burdening him/her with any kind of information. Once you know what your kid thinks then you can slowly talk about it. Kids are great learners so please mindful of what you teach them. It is always advisable to give them pocket money but also teach them to become accountable for it by keeping a track of where they spend it. Later, sit with your kid and explain why a certain expense was necessary and why some could be avoided.

Financial literacy is a wonderful tool and all champions must start early.

Teaching Our Kids To Live Mindfully By Drinking Tea

The idea of “living mindfully” can be a difficult value to teach our kids, especially in our modern go-go world.  With so many distractions, a 24 hour news cycle and our caffeinated approach to living, it can be hard to stop “doing” and start “being.”  To help my kinds start to practice mindfulness I started with the simple ritual of drinking tea.

Drinking tea may not be the usual place to start.  Most people who teach mindfulness start with asking us to concentrate on our breathing.  But this did not resonate with my children.  They needed more for their mind to latch onto than just breathing in and out.  Perhaps they didn’t have the patience?  But when we began to be mindful one sip and a time when drinking tea, something clicked for them.  They were able to quiet the mental chatter of their minds and fully appreciate the tea and the present moment of their lives.  They had become mindful.

From there, things flowed easily.  We started a tea journey, enjoying loose leaf tea leaves from around the world.  We sipped all the tea types from green tea to oolong tea to chai tea, being mindful as we did so.  Then we started to embrace the practice of mindful eating.  Putting our fork down between each mouthful, being silent and really experiencing the flavour and texture of what we were eating.

Mindful eating has brought us into the world of gardening.  We now grow quite a lot of what we eat and what we steep.  We now cook every day.  And every day we are becoming more connected with the process of creating food.

For me (and I think now also for my children) mindfulness is about living a more sensory life.  After all, if we are able to notice the small things in life, like the delicate taste of a white tea, or the sweet burst from a ripe tangerine, then we’ll be able to notice ALL the details in our life.  And a more mindful, a richer life blooms.

Teaching Kids To Share Is Vital

To me, one of the most important aspects of bringing a child up is to instil the notion of sharing within them.  The ability to share will always inspire a peaceful atmosphere so making our children aware that sharing with one another is a vital life skill is of paramount importance.  My older sister has a son aged four and he is the only child /grand child / nephew in our family and he gets spoilt rotten.  Even though we try and install the notion of sharing into him, it can be quite a task and my sister hopes that this will improve once he has a little brother or sister of his own to look out for and share with.

Having two or more young children can be quite difficult to balance your time between and even simple things like going to the shops can be rather taxing, especially when daddy is out at work and mummy has to travel on public transport.  My sisters son will quickly understand that it is not all about him and he will have to share his mothers time with his little sibling, as well as  having to share his toys, give regular hand me downs, and probably even sharing modes of transport!  For this, double baby strollers are vital but only really work if the children are of close enough age – a problem which my sister may have to experiment with.  Here’s hoping my little nephew embraces his new found ability to share!

Teaching Your Child to be Independent and Financially Savvy

One of the most important things to teach your children is how to be independent in all things. When I was growing up my parents always used to say three things to me that I find myself repeating to my own children today. The first was that the world doesn’t owe you a living and the second was don’t be concerned about what other people have and the third was to keep something for a rainy day. The third thing is really essential, now more than ever, in the current economic climate and I think it is a good idea to make sure children are generally more financially savvy about all kinds of things from fixed rate mortgages and ISAs to credit cards and loans.

Preach to Kids, but Be Practical

You might always be telling your young ones, not to do this, not to do that, but how many of you have been following what you are preaching? We tell kids not to lie, but make them lie when a person you do not want to entertain, turns up at your doorstep. When we are teaching them to be truthful, we should also understand, that they expect us to be bound by same rule we bind them with. Young ones are pure at heart and listen to everything we say, or do. This is the reason that our preaching and actions should match, when we have kids around.

Kids learn by copying the acts or mannerisms of adults. So, next time, you are about to smoke or have a drink, check if your kid is keenly observing you. The first few years the kid stays with their parents are crucial and often, decide their personality. This is why, it is important to teach kids to be peace loving and truthful by nature. This is easier said than done. Raising young toddlers is a tiring job that needs one to be very careful of what they do, or how they behave with others.

Raising pets may seem an easy job, than bringing up young ones. Making a kid understand your perspective, is not as easy as teaching a cat how to use an automatic litter box. Even though pets present a different form of difficulty, one need not bother what kind of individuals they will be, when they grow up, as they do not copy an owner.

Educating the youth through an open community

The current generation of youth have an almost Darwinian opinion on life: Survival of the fittest is a necessary evil and that we should do whatever it takes to get ahead of the rat race. We see it happening in our daily lives and affiliate marketing is one of them. There are all sorts of outlandish promises being made and a lot of people getting hurt by re-bill offers.

TO ensure a brighter future we need to teach the youth at an early age that the key to staying on top of the game is to be able to offer something unique to your clientele. Aside from offering bonuses or freebies, you should also make sure that your visitors feel that they are treated like real human beings and not just leads that can be converted into sales.

Personalization is one of the best methods of engaging your customers and that you should only hire an seo agency if you have an ethical business model. This is what differentiates the successful people and those that are struggling in this business. If I were a customer, I would definitely go for someone I can trust and talk to rather than settle for someone who would pass for a fictional character in a fantasy novel.

7 Ways to Keep Your Children Safe

Nowadays, one of the concerns of every parent is how to keep their children safe at all times and away from any forms of danger. Keeping the communication channels always open to both parents and children in concern is a must to help the parents clarify issues relating to their children’s safety and what measures can be agreed upon by both parties, following medical billing and coding rules, to guarantee total peace of mind.

Children are always the target of bad influences, pedophile or criminals who kidnap children for ransom. With combined efforts, here are 7 effective ways to protect the children from any possible harm:

  1. Frequently check your children’s safety on their whereabouts, especially at times when you need to be away, either from work obligations or other personal matters to attend to. Call them often and if there is an elder person in-charge asking him/her how are they. Show your children that even you are not around, you are just a call away if they need you.
  2. Teach kids even at a very young age with regards to their own safety in times when they get lost, people abusing or bullying them and finding ways to keep them safe while using the internet.
  3. When your children are approached by strangers, tell your kids not to entertain them and if they are in danger, call for help or create some noise by shouting loudly to attract passersby
  4. Give your kids detailed instructions where to contact you easily in cases of emergencies or when they are in trouble.
  5. Remind your children to be extra cautious in places that are not familiar to them. Advice them not to go alone in public toilets or in any dark alley and if possible ask somebody to assist them if there is a need to go to that area.
  6. If somebody is following them on their way to school or going home, advice them to go to the nearest place where there are lots of people around. Ask for somebody’s help if they feel any danger is about to happen.
  7. Be open with your kids, so they will always trust you and tell the truth where they are going. Explain to them your main concern is for their safety and that you just want to know where to pick them in cases of emergencies.

In general, parents and children who are always open to share and communicate their feelings and ideas are more successful in achieving their goal of keeping their kids safe from any harm. In cases the children are hospitalized due to some major accidents, feel free to ask your health care provider or insurance company of all the requirements that you need to submit in your claim application and be sure to follow the specific instructions of medical billing and coding guidelines to quicken the approval of your claim. Always include your children’s views in whatever decision you might make on their behalf.

Sharing my Relaxing Hobby with my Children

Greenhouses are good places to relax and shut the rest of the world out.  After a stressful or hectic day you can retreat to your greenhouses and do some planting which is very relaxing.  Or you could just sit there on a nice comfy chair and admire all the lovely plants growing.

Some people spend hours and hours each week in their green houses both men and women equally.

It is also a very good idea to get children interested in growing things both boys and girls so that they learn where vegetables and salads come from – not the supermarket shelves!

Adults Have A Big Influence On Youth Actions

Have you ever sat there in a world of your own having a cigarette and thinking nothing of it? Next time have a look around you and see who is watching you, do you have teenage relatives? Do your friends have young children or teenagers? If you answered yes to any of these then it is highly likely that you have ‘been seen’ smoking. If this could be true then there is a possibility these kids may look at smoking and think that it is in some way it is cool or acceptable. The next step could see them trying cigarettes and eventually becoming addicted.

Obviously this is something only smokers will relate to but smokers may also be unaware of. Children are generally educated in school about the dangers of smoking but this could all be wiped out with just one moment of carelessness by an adult they look upto smoking when they should really know better.

If you are likely to be in a position of responsibility like this and you smoke then you need to look at your habit and even consider quitting smoking. Electronic cigarettes can be a great alternative to smoking tobacco even if you don’t want to quit. Take a look at this E-Lites review for instance, you can just introduce this product to help you reduce the amount of cigarettes you smoke.

Ensure our Youth are Financially Savvy

Ensuring that our youth are financially savvy and ready to take on one of life’s most important aspects (finances) is crucial to our society’s future.  Understanding how loan amortization works using an amortization calculator is an important part of this process.  These skills will become particularly useful when a young person grows up and purchases a home.

An amortization calculator is used in the calculation of the amount you pay on a month to month basis for your loan or house mortgage. Aspects of the mortgage such as the principal, interest and the duration you pay the loan are the most common variables used to in this calculation. Ideally this term is used in the repayment of mortgages but it can also be used in other aspects of credit such as credit card payment. Mostly it involves the calculation of the exact amount you’ll be paying for the interest and for the principal every month.

The first step in the amount you will pay every month is to determine the exact principal of the loan or mortgage. Basically, the principal is the exact amount you borrow. This amount can sometimes include any associated cost that will accompany the loan. Mostly the processing fees are included in these associated costs and add up to the money which will be regarded as your principal.

Once you have the determined the principal, the next step is determining what your monthly pay will be. The monthly pay is the amount that you will pat with to go to your loan repayment. To do this, you will need to know the interest rate and also the period you will be paying the loan. For instance, if your principal is $10000, the pay duration is ten years and interest rate is five percent, your monthly payment will be around one hundred and six dollars.

After you know your monthly payment, you now determine the exact amount of interest you will be paying every month. Basically, you will pay more in terms of interest in the initial stages of the loan repayment; this amount will keep on reducing as the months proceed. Also, your principal repayment will be low in the initial months and keep increasing as the months go by.

Using the example given above, you should expect to pay around $41.67 as interest for the first month. This amount will be calculated using the total number of months it will take to pay the mortgage in this case one hundred and twenty months. The interest and the principal are also used in the calculation.

This result will come from multiplying ten thousand dollars with the five percent interest and then dividing with one twenty months.Once you have the above figures, you’ll now come up with a repayment schedule. For instance, if you are using the above example, you would pay around forty two dollars for the interest and around sixty four for the principal in the first month.

These two figures basically will total your monthly pay. As the months proceed, you’ll apply the same formula for calculation of these values. This will go on until you are done repaying the loan.

The amortization calculator can be found online. Most of the software that calculate these amounts can easily be downloaded online. Also, there are programs such as spread sheets you could use. Though the internet can be helpful, sometimes it is good to know how these amounts are calculated.

Educate your Children about Serious Health Issues

It’s very important to teach your children about serious health issues such as hypertension at a young age.  You can use tools such as this blood pressure chart to visually illustrate hypertension’s importance to your children’s health.  Blood pressure is an integral part of one’s overall health.  Here is some info you may choose to share with your children about blood pressure:

Blood pressure is something that is of concern for everyone. It is one of the leading issues discussed in the health media. The chief concern in today’s world is the effect of hypertension and how it can negatively affect the body. There are many people who realize the important of adjusting their health and overall well being in order to prevent illness.

The first thing that a person should do is understand the importance of diet and how the foods they eat can contribute to lowering or raising their blood pressure. This is not as simple as it sounds. There are many factors that go into creating a well balanced diet. It will be imperative that you look into all of the foods that you are currently eating and determine if they are creating an unpleasant environment for you.

The first thing to think about is how much salt you are taking with your meals. Salt is found naturally in many foods. However, it is often the case that people add additional salt to their meals. This is going to be a problem for most people, its problematic because it increases the amount of sodium that you ingest.

Additionally, it should be remembered that you need to completely change the amount of bad foods. Fried foods, cheese, and meats are all foods that can and often times do contribute to hypertension. It is important to remember that you do not want to completely remove all salt from your diet. Salt is necessary, however you get enough of it from foods so that adding it is almost certainly unnecessary.

A person who is concerned about their healthy should also consider including a decent amount of exercise into your lifestyle. Exercise is perhaps the second most important aspect when it comes to staying healthy. You will want to have a decent amount of cardiovascular exercise. This is the type of exercise that allows you to have the best physical benefit.

What you can do is set up a daily exercise schedule. It is important that you follow this schedule and make sure that it incorporates all of the most important things, such as running or jogging, swimming, or power walking. This will ensure that you have the maximum amount of beneficial exercise.

It is very important to not over do exercise. Any form of physical exertion is going to create stress. What you should look to do is to minimize the danger that is inherent. The best way to do this is to start slowly. This will allow you to determine what is the correct strategy for you.

It is vital that you maintain a good blood pressure level. This will prevent many of the most common diseases from occurring. The two ways to do this are exercise and diet. Once you have set a plan up, it is vital that you follow it. This will ensure that you have the maximum amount of success. Take the initiative and begin the path to good living today.

Encouraging Independence For Our Teens

Teaching children life skills sounds like a good and prudent thing to do. Still, deep-down I didn’t really want to encourage my children to become independent.

When I look at my oldest, now 21, I see beyond the mascara and her hip haircut to the big blue eyes and fuzzy blond hair of the beautiful baby who made me a mom. My second-born (all 6’4” of him) will always, in my heart, be the chubby little newborn who thrilled me with the fact that he was a boy (a big deal to someone who is one of four sisters that never got the brother they wanted.)

Number three came along six years after her brother, and was the answer to all our prayers. When I look at her, I don’t just see the growing-like-a-weed young teen that she is, but the smiling, ruddy little doll whose siblings carried her around like a prize. And even my youngest, the one who almost didn’t make it and who spent his first month in the newborn ICU attached to tubes and wires and equipment, is strong, solid and insistent on doing things for himself (especially when his mom treats him like her baby.)

We moms cherish our children. We spent many sleepless nights with them when they were crying babies, feverish youngsters and emotional teens. We went without so they could have whatever they needed. After all the years of love and hard work we invested in our children, why would we want to give them up?

As if the thought of letting them go isn’t hard enough, there’s the fact of what’s going on in this world. Releasing a beloved child into the society depicted in our newspapers and on our televisions—one that glorifies drinking, drugs, and sex, and faces a steady barrage of terrorism, war and natural disasters—is pretty darn scary. The thought of even one of those things makes me want to gather my children under my wings and keep them there.

Sure, on the surface, “trying their wings” and other such euphemisms sound good. But there are so many things that can go wrong, so many things we can’t control. Someone once said that becoming a mother means spending the rest of your life walking around with your heart outside your body, and isn’t that the truth? It’s hard enough dealing with the physical and psychological disorders they receive in daily living now. Why would we want to send them out among the wolves?

To me, releasing them out into the world meant:

  • They might make big financial mistakes.
  • They might do things I don’t approve of.

And even worse:

  • They might get physically or emotionally hurt.
  • They might move away, maybe even far away.
  • They might not need me anymore.

How To Let The Kids Of The World Find Out About Peace

That was the question, the answer is marketing. Primarily internet marketing. Children of all ages all over the world have a need to find out about peace. Peace can come in a number of forms. Maybe they need to find peace from war, school bullies, mental illness, even parental abuse. They are always on the internet, even if only using their phones. If you have a service and need to get the word out it honestly needs to come through the internet. Whether it’s social media like Facebook or Twitter or just an informational website that gets the word out. Finding the best SEO company will know best how help these children recognize your goal and spread the word for you.

Teaching Through Gardening and Growing Vines

Wine isn’t something any child should have access to.  Vines and grapes on the other hand, might be.

Grape vines are one of the great teaching plants for young children.  Aside from going through an entire seasonal cycle, they are incredibly resilient and can be watered an incredible amount, or they can be hardly watered at all.  Plus, they are low enough to the ground for children to be able to see the grapes growing throughout the entire year.

Of course, October brings a special surprise, the ability to pick and eat the grapes you’ve grown and watched for an entire year.  Having your children help grow grapes will help to teach patience and responsibility.  I think those are two traits which are essential to teaching children that peace is important in this world.  Without patience, finding world peace likely sounds like an impossible dream.  Without responsibility, peace will never be possible.

Even a wine of the month club can appreciate that grapes are sometimes not best used for wine.

The Importance of the Work of The Peace Corps Volunteers

As an organization the Peace Corps in the US has been in existence since 1961, when it was created by an executive order issued by then President John F Kennedy. since then thousands of young people have traveled all over the world helping people less fortunate than themselves while learning more about their world and the way it works.

At the time the act declared as an organization the Peace Corps was being formed to “ promote world peace and friendship through a Peace Corps, which shall make available to interested countries and areas men and women of the United States qualified for service abroad and willing to serve, under conditions of hardship if necessary, to help the peoples of such countries and areas in meeting their needs for trained manpower”.

What a Peace Corps volunteer in this day and age does varies a great deal. Some still go out in the countryside in counties all over the world and assist the locals with simple everyday tasks like gathering firewood, fulfilling the “trained manpower” mandate. In many countries where reliable electricity and gas supplies are still not always available firewood remains a primary everyday source of heat and method of cooking. These volunteers will live amongst these people sharing their knowledge and learning from their hosts, the intention for the program from the beginning, a peaceful exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Another area where Peace Corps volunteers have become very active is in the field of conservation education. Some of the biggest programs being implemented in 68 different counties around the world by the Peace Corps include the creation of effective and more efficient forms of farming, education about recycling and the implementation of effective recycling programs and basic environmental education to help people learn how they themselves can save their own dwindling ecosystems.

Sleep Deprived Children Can Be More Violent

Lack of sleep in children can result in violence and also disorders such as ADHD.  Like most adults, children who do not get good rest can be grumpy and unproductive.  In many cases children will end up having a higher chance of becoming a bully.

The sleep disorder known as sleep apnea is also prevalent in children and is helping lead to unnecessary violence in school; if you are the parent of child who bullies others than you may want to look into whether your child is getting quality sleep.  This very well may be the simple fix to a problem that will only get worse with time.

Less Stressed Parents Will Result In More Well Behaved Children

Children take after their parents, this is something that we all have seen time and time again.  They start copying you at a very young age and continue that trend as they get older; sometimes this takes place on a subconscious level.  Your child can tell if you are full of stress and believe it or not your mood will effect theirs and will also rub off on you.

If you are constantly worried about things your child will feed off of that and it could affect their behavior.  There are certain things that may be out of your control that affect your stress levels; however there also matters which you can control, such as personal finance.  Personal finance is the source of many adults stress levels spiking, whether they are struggling with making more money or paying off the credit card debt through a debt relief program.  If you can find ways to lower the stress in your financial life this may have a very positive effect on your child’s mood.

International Children Peace Prize

During 2003 and 2009 it was not a good time to be a child in the Swat region of Pakistan. The Swat region lies among huge vallies and hills along the Pakistani and Afghanistan borders.  It is an area of great beauty and is even known as the Switzerland of Asia.  However that’s where the good stuff ends when the region fell under the control of the Taliban.

One of the very first rules was to order all the schools to close, as part of an edict designed to stop the education specifically of girls.  When this happened Malala Yousafzai was only eleven years old.  However at great risk to herself she started an anonymous diary on the BBC Urdu’s website.   This blog became so famous she later featured in a couple of New York Times documentaries covering her experiences.

Here’s an extract from the times after the strict Sharia law was relaxed and the ban on the schools was lifted.

Today our teacher asked us how many girls listen to FM radio and most of the girls said that they used to but not anymore. But few girls said that they still listen to it. Girls were of the view that once FM radio transmission is stopped only then peace can return to Swat.

The Taleban say that they use FM radio to propagate teachings of the Koran but commander Khalil after a brief teaching of the Koran subtly switches over to threaten opponents. Announcements regarding fighting, activities and murders are made on FM radio.

During our recess today we saw helicopters flying. The helicopters fly very low over our school. Girls called out to the soldiers and they waved back. Soldiers seem to be tired of waving now.

Now however the bravery of this little girl has been recognised and Malala Yousafzai has been nominated for the International Kids Peace Prize which is awarded each year by a Dutch charity called Kidsrights.

You can see all her diaries online at the BBC web site if you search for Malala Yousafzai.  If you are able to watch Iplayer abroad then you can also see the BBC interview that was recorded after the area was returned to normal rule.  The story is quite an inspiration to children and adults across the world many who of course take these basic rights of schooling for granted.

Woodstock Posters Offer a Piece of History to Music Fans

The original Woodstock poster  billed the now legendary festival as “3 days of Peace and Music” that were being offered in White Lake, NY, a place that many of the people who intended to travel to see all of the famous names had never heard of.

woodstock poster

The original artwork used on the poster was created by Arnold Skolnick. The image of white dove perched at the end of a guitar has become an iconic piece of art in its own right and won Skolnick both international acclaim and a place in history. What you may not know is that the New York graphic artist was only given three days to create and deliver his work to festival organizers. Amazingly enough although the famous image has made millions of dollars for  various people over the years all that Skolnick ever made off it was a single royalty check for $15 when he delivered the project to his employer!

Teen Jobs Teach Kids To Work Together

Kids have a very different experience growing up today than they did 50 years ago. It was a simpler time back then and children growing up had a lot less temptations. Parents also had an easier time because there were fewer ways for their kids to get into trouble and raising them, while never easy, was surely simpler than it is today.

The world seems to have become increasingly violent in recent years. Either that or we just have a lot more access to violence and bad things in the news every day. Kids today are exposed to all sorts of news about everything that is going wrong in the world when in years past, their contact with such information was much more limited.

Rather than get involved with the bad elements and violence, teens need places to go after school and things to do. This is especially the case now that many times, it is common that both of their parents are working. Jobs for 17 year olds and teens of all ages are not only a great way to keep them occupied and make money but they also help teach kids to get along with other people and start to have a respect for authority. Teen jobs are a godsend for the kids, their parents, and society as a whole.

Unfortunately, one of the big casualties of this economic downturn that began in 2008 is the reduction of such jobs for teens. We hear all the time how the unemployment rate is around 9% to 10% but what we never hear is the rate for teenagers. That rate is close to double that of adults, and kids who want to work are rarely talked about in the news.

The lack of jobs for kids will make a lasting impact on them as many will not learn the job and social skills they need to learn at this early age. Additionally, they will probably go into their 20′s having lots of doubts about whether they will ever be able to find meaningful jobs. This high rejection rates they experience as young job hunters will impact their psyche later on in life.

Teach Kids Peace

Kids and nature

When the Christian messiah, Jesus Christ, made the statement that the kingdom of heaven belonged to children he was definitely on to something; an examination of the living conditions of the mushroom Cordyceps might provide a hint to what one of the world’s most influential teachers, if not the most influential, had in mind. Cordyceps is a genus of ascomyete fungi that has over 400 species of fungi; Cordyceps is also a parasite. The question that many a reader is probably asking at this point is: what exactly does teaching kids peace have to do with parasites? Keep an open mind and read on, maybe, just maybe you will see the connection here.

As a parasite, Cordyceps is essentially abode in insects and plants. When it lodges itself in the body of a host it begins by replacing the tissues of the host, this is manifested by the development of an elongated fruiting body that may be cylindrical in shape branched or even a whole lot of complex designs. Although the term parasite conjures up images of distortion and harvesting where one has not reaped Cordyceps has a saving grace in that its genetic build up has elements that have a medicinal value to them. This is where the connection with teaching kids peace comes in.

As children get to be socialized in the diverse cultures that many of us draw our extraction from, they inevitably come across many shades of individuals. Some of these folks will be inevitably tagged as free loaders, douche bags, the scum of the earth, et al. Remember that as the American hero Martin Luther King put it: do not judge men by the color of their skin but the content of their character, which might be renditioned in the following format for purposes of this article: do not judge men by their appearance but by the content of their character. This is the lesson that ought to be passed on as you teach kids peace. Look at the positive side of people.

Beware of the Television Programs Shown in Child Care

While many parents believe that submitting a power of attorney form to their local child care center is the best thing that they can do to protect their child’s health and well being while in group care, the reality is that there are many other things that can compromise the long-term health of their child while in this type of scenario.  Parents need to be aware of what kind of television programs are being aired during their child’s stay in child care and be mindful of the impact this can have on their child’s behavior.

The documentary Consuming Kids exposes the long-term effects of letting children watch certain seemingly “safe” television programs while in group child care (or at school).  The bonus footage at the end, showing two different real-life scenarios, is particularly disturbing.

In one scenario, a group of children watches the television program Barney.  Afterwards, the children peacefully play with each other, singing songs and dancing with each other like they saw in the program.  Next, the same group of children watches the television program Power Rangers.  After watching this program, they begin to fight and hit each other violently, have trouble settling down, and scream and yell.  Although Power Rangers is supposedly a child-friendly program, the children obviously picked up violent behaviors in the program and are acting out in real life.

A parent of a child who had watched Power Rangers while in child care would be upset and confused as to why their normally well-behaved child was kicking, screaming, and fighting while at home.  For this reason, parents need to be aware of what programs are being aired in child care.  We need to teach kids peace, not violence.

Teaching Health to Youngsters May Reduce Aggressive Attitudes

Rising levels of “new illnesses” such as ADHD in school aged children is prompting more parents to pay more attention to the foods which they feed their children. Is it possible that our current high fat, high sugar and highly processed eating habits are causing more aggressive behavior in our kids? This is a genuine concern for any parent today.

picture of children fighting at school No one wants to see their child being beaten up. And most parents would prefer if their son or daughter is not attacking other kids. There’s a small minority who would no doubt be proud to see their little red neck terrorizing other kids at school. However, today, we’ll focus on the civil members of our society.

There is no doubt that in general, the foods we’re feeding our kids are often very far from whole foods. With busy schedules, we do not always have the time to cook meals from scratch. This, in my opinion, would undoubtedly help the health and mental clarity of our children.

What we can do, even if time is short, is to try and feed our kids more fruits and vegetables. You may be thinking that this is easier said than done. But have you considered juicing as an option? These honest juicer reviews will help you pick out an appliance that will be able to make the drinks you want while also matching your budget. My own son loves making juices and it’s a great way for me to feed him the healthy foods that I want him to eat. Teaching our children about the benefits of eating (and drinking) their fruits and vegetables from a young age is likely to be of enormous benefit to them as the grow into adults.

Keitetsi Means ‘Fearless’. Choose An Appropriate Name When Christening Your Baby

The name Keitetsi means ‘Fearless’ and the story of her fighting in Uganda and killing soldiers before she even became a teenager certainly suggests her name is appropriate.

A name is perhaps the most important thing parents will give their baby, apart from life itself. Some of the names we see when we make our personalised christening gifts are less suited to the kids who bear them. The publicity many celebrities receive when giving their offspring unusual names is not helpful. There is a fashion to give a baby a made up name or a traditional name with a different spelling. Parents should remember that that cute little baby boy will probably grow to be a strapping six footer and a name that seemed cute when he could be cradled in one hand may not be suitable in later life.

Keitetsi was fighting and killing at a time when most kids are running around the playground at school. Keitetsi wouldn’t know the meaning of bullying, but a child with a weird name is a target for teasing from other children. Think carefully when choosing your baby’s name.

Mathematics not Massacres – Getting African Children on the Right Start to Life

One of the unsung tragedies of modern times is the practice unsavory rebel organizations in certain African countries have of recruiting children to fight their battles.  Young children, frequently orphaned by the parties involved, are taken and raised to fight for groups such as the LRA in Uganda.

These children, denied any other role models or authority figures, are taught to support and fight for whatever causes these outfits are battling for. In Sudan, young children of this type – sometimes collectively referred to as the ‘Lost Boys of Sudan’ were drafted into rebel armies.

Rather than going to school to learn mathematics and other life skills, these kids were taught to inflict the horrors they had suffered onto yet more innocent victims.  The horrible spiral of violence, once started, is very difficult to stop.

It is up to responsible governments – with the help of NGO’s – to try to help these poor children back onto the path to a productive and prosperous life.  The most important step that can be taken is to retrieve these children from these outfits – which are basically brutal gangs – and find them safe homes with proper schooling.

With well-balanced loving adult role models, these children can start to heal.  With a proper education – learning the details of ‘Soh Cah Toa‘ in Trigonometry, rather than the ‘Rat Rat Rat’ sound of machine gun fire – these kids have the hopes of obtaining gainful non-violent employment as adults.

Thousands of children growing up learning the arts and behaviors of war is perhaps the most insidious and damaging activity for a countries future.  It is imperative that everyone with the means do their best to save both current and future generations from this scourge – raising and educating kids in peace pays dividends not just for the children but for society as a whole.

Teach Kids About Peace and Financial Responsibility

Consumers use Payment Calculator, or a paymentbot, for a variety of reasons.  The most common reason is to determine the loan payment cost for a high ticket item.  When someone goes into a bank to apply for a loan, he can more easily negotiate if he knows the payment terms he wants to receive. He also needs to know things like his credit rating, his income and his outgoing bills. If he wants to further impress the bank, he will keep track of his other financial assets. Some of these assets may be used as collateral for the loan.  Fortunately, this is part of the loan process. The payment calculator is used by the consumer before he applies for the loan.

Using a paymentbot an important part of figuring out if someone can afford a loan. A reader who wants to use the phrase literally may say that using such a program is an important part of financial planning, although this phrase has taken on an extremely different meaning in the business world.   Even if it has taken on a different meaning, the purpose is the same. A payment calculator is part of a useful tool for determining if someone can afford the payments on a new car or home.

Anyone who has gone through Middle school knows the interest = principal  * rate * time formula.  It applies to savings accounts as well.  The paymentbot app or web software can help someone decide if he can afford the car or a new home. He may want to save money first, but that is his own decision. Even the best calculator only comes up with a number.  The human who uses these tools must decide to apply judgment on his own. If he exercises good judgment, he can avoid serious financial pitfalls.

Healthy Habits For Life

Children truly are like little sponges.  They will often pick up on the lifestyles, habits, and even the sayings and personalities of their parents—sometimes picking up some of the worst possible habits from us.  This is why it is so important, as parents, to set as good of an example as we can in every aspect of parenting.

Teaching kids things like peaceful protest, and the importance of problem-solving in ways which do not involve yelling, fighting, or bullying are valuable tools to give our children as they develop.  What’s more, teaching them healthy lifestyle habits is also essential to creating well-rounded and contributing members of society.  This includes teaching children the importance of eating right and working out.

It is never to late to begin healthy eating habits and to begin a workout routine to set a good example for your children.  If you need help deciding on what exercise routine will work best for you, check out http://www.workoutequipmentreviews.net/p90x-reviews-or-how-to-shape-up-in-90-days/ for a comprehensive list of reviews of some of the most popular and effective workouts being done today.

By choosing a workout routine and sticking to it, you are teaching your children to take care of their bodies in a healthy way.  Even better, you will be taking a huge step to getting into shape yourself, leading by example a healthy lifestyle.  Showing your children how to take charge of their own health is just as essential as giving them the skills to peacefully problem solve.  It is a valuable tool they will use for the rest of their lives as a means of staying active, happy, and healthy.  Healthy children grow up to be healthy and happy adults.  What better gift can you give your children than the gift of fitness and health?

Education Techniques

Education techniques have changed considerably in recent times with a heavy emphasis being put on computer skills. Most jobs these days require some kind of computer skills at some point so the education authorities have had to move with the times,

Some places are even beginning to replace tools and resources  with things like iPads as it can save money in the long run. These kind of moves are opening up social media as being the main way that people communicate these days and certain platforms are a great way to show your interests and hobbies. Things such as picture sharing websites are a superb way to show your interests and link on to pages that will be of interest to you and your friends.

Learning how to use these platforms can also give a good idea about marketing and strategies that would become quite useful in that field. The sooner children are exposed to these sort of things the quicker they can adapt to them.

It is good that the education system is finally starting to be a bit more flexible as many school leavers feel they don’t have the skills to compete on the job market. Hopefully this will give them the confidence to do that.

The Web Design Pricing For Websites That Promote Peace to Children

Scientists have long known that children have the capacity to learn some new things faster and better than adults. This can be demonstrated by their ability to absorb new languages more easily, and they can also adapt new habits, which they can carry over well into adulthood. Because of this ability, it makes a lot of sense to begin teaching children the value and essence of peace at such a young age. When these children grow up, hopefully they would become more likely to pursue less violent methods first for resolving their problems.

You can teach them effectively by having a web designer make the appropriate website for children, and the web design pricing rates can easily be covered by charity donations from educational and business institutions as well as from sympathetic individuals.

Non-Violent Games

Most experts recommend that every website designed specifically for children should include games. Although these games can seriously affect the web design pricing, they are also very effective in subtly imparting life lessons to children.

So what kinds of games should you feature? The best ones are those which have a non-violent cast to them. Simple games in which children can learn to take care of animals in a zoo or a farm are great. Other games may also involve having children lead animals away from every sort of danger.

“Violent” Games

Although obviously you shouldn’t include first-person shooter games in your lineup, there are still some action games which can teach children about the horrors of war. For example, you can have a simple game where the lead character has to be led away from dangerous land mines and bombs from the air, and from soldiers killing each other. These games can imprint on the children the value of life, and can make what you spend on the web design pricing worth it in the end.

Children and Having A Pet

Having pet at home is not bad idea for children, whatever they are as long as not dangerous. There is also such a wonderful variety of animal, that’s why they eager to know and interested wtih animal and they are so diverse in size, features, behaviour, sounds they make and habitat. When they love cat or dog then can have it as theitr pet.

It’s good because pet has advantages for their education. They can learn how to  build relationship with another creature and alaso learn how to use best automatic pet feederto feed their pet.Pet train  giving affection that the child can have for his pets that is the most valuable feature, from the educational side. It is this that makes the child learn the meaning of devotion and sacrifice and service. They have to know that every creature should be care each other they may not bully even to animal.

Just Teach Children

Should State funded schools operate discriminatory entrance policies?  Well at the moment lots of them do and they’re called faith schools.  There’s one down the road from me, an excellent school supposedly and a five minute walk from my front door – but alas my children are not allowed to attend because I don’t go to church. Of course many parents go through this charade of pretending to be ’believers’ and dutifuly attend for a select few sundays.  Just until their kids are accepted of course then it’s back to golf and weightwatchers on a Sunday morning.

I am excluded though permanently as I refuse to pretend I believe in something I’m afraid I don’t.  So a school that is funded through my taxes and operated through the State sector actively discriminates against my children because of my non-belief.  Does that sound right to you? If my children were excluded because I was homosexual or black – I think there would be some protests but because I happen to not believe in God that’s just fine.

Is it so different to racial discrimination?  Obviously many believe it is and schools who describe themselves as ’faith schools’ will continue to operate discriminatory policies and receive preferential treatment when setting up.  Surveys tend to suggest I’m not in a minority – the latest one pilled by the Accord Coalition suggested that 73% of people agreed or strongly agreed that state funded schools should not be allowed to discriminate based on the religion of their parents.

I’m not too upset, I’d never send my kids to that school any way.  I would rather them be brought up with a wider of variety of children from all sorts of backgrounds and religion.  I strongly object to segregation of children on religious grounds as if children don’t mix and learn about each others cultures and beliefs what hope is there for their future?  It’s like the internet which is becoming increasingly filtered and monitored unless you invest a few quid on using VPNs and proxies like – this site suggests.

Children Learning Through Observation

One of the first things I learned about kids after I had my son was that they learned so much through observation.  I mean, it is literally all they do each and every day is observe their parents and the other adults in their lives.  It really is pretty crazy to watch your son carry his fork exactly the same way that you do from the kitchen to the table, even if you have never talked about it before.

I bring that up for a simple reason, as adults are we showing our kids how to act appropiately in all situations?  Are we showing them through our actions how to treat people and that peace is important? Are we as kind to the campaigners for Green Peace who come to our door as we are to the military at a local parade? How can we help our kids to have a healthy view of the world and of each other?

Teach Children About Loan Amortization and Homeownership

For our children to have peace, they must first have contentment.  Homeownership can be a great way to attain contentment.  However we must not forget to properly educate our youth prior to home ownership.  This amortization calculator: http://myamortizationcalculator.net/amortization-calculator/ can be a great way to educate pupils on the financial aspects of home ownership.

Financing a mortgage to purchase or secure a property can be a huge undertaking.  Home buyers or builders need to consider several aspects before seeking a mortgage finance loan.  Size of the loan, maturity date, interest rate and payoff methods are some of the key factors you must have a good understanding of before finalizing a loan arrangement.  Calculating interest rates and determining the amount of payments can be a complex task.  Utilizing a mortgage amortization calculator can assist you in making sure you have estimated the appropriate payment amounts.

Knowing how much you can afford to borrow is an important piece of information to have before you start shopping for a property.  With countless options and terms to choose from, it can be a challenge determining which loan is the right mortgage for you and your needs.  Monthly payments vary depending on what type of loan you have and the length of time you have agreed to take to pay the loan off.

Fixed rate mortgages are just like the name implies.  Interest is set at a fixed rate with predictable payments for the duration of the loan.  Interest only loans are a different type of loan altogether. They frequently feature an interest rate that will adjust in the future, as well as requiring the borrower to repay the principal amount.  This type of loan can result in much higher payments as the loan matures.  Balloon rate mortgages are usually short term loans compared to standard mortgages.  These loans are typically 5 to 10 years in duration. Lenders only expect to receive a portion of the debt during the loan duration with the final payment being the remainder of the outstanding loan amount.  Most borrowers refinance or sell the property to make the final payment on balloon rate mortgages.  Adjustable rate mortgages initially have a lower interest rate, but are at risk for an increased rate in future years.  It’s important to note that if interest rates go down, the borrower benefits by having their rate go down as well.  Monthly payments vary based on the movement of interest rates.

Taking all of these variables into consideration, the most efficient way to determine your monthly payment amount for a loan is to use a mortgage amortization calculator.  There are several free versions available on-line.  You will need to have the following information to use the mortgage amortization calculator effectively.

Total dollar amount of your loan.
Annual interest rate (sometimes referred to as the Annual Percentage Rate or APR)
Number of months for the loan, or term

For different types of loans, the information varies from this point forward.  For fixed loan terms, you will calculate a fixed monthly payment.  This calculation will leave you with a balance of zero at the end of the loan’s term.  For payments based on a percentage of the balance, your monthly payment will change each month.  If you only make the minimum required payment, your balance will not equal zero at the end of the loan’s term.  For loans paying interest owed, your payment includes the entire amount of interest accrued during the month, but does not apply to the loan’s principal amount.  Your payment may change if the interest rate or your principal balance changes.

I Believe The Children Are Our Future

“I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way…” So sang Whitney Houston and this is without doubt the way forward. We hear daily reports of war and killings and things don’t appear to change despite pleas for calm. The only thing we can hope for is that some time in the future we can find peace and the only way that will be possible is by fully educating the children of today about the prils or war and animosity.

Education itself is changing with computers taking up far more importance than they may well have in the past so taking it courses to be able to educate these days is probably a better idea. One thing that this age of computers has ensured is that globalisation has speeded up and with communication being possible between people from all over the world our eyes are constantly being opened up to new and different cultures. Some of this causes clashes but children are a lot more accepting and by making friends from different countries, backgrounds and religions it will teach them that we are all the same underneath and that any differences you may have can be settled in a peaceful way.

It is possible that we can live in a peaceful world but we must first learn acceptance and the proper education is the way to do this. By setting out standards and acceptable behaviour to our children from an early age we will stand a lot better chance and so will the planet. It could be generations away but peace on earth is a distinct possiblity and it is up to us to sow the seeds.

Teaching Our Kids to Code

When I was learning to code being rather badly taught by a maths teacher who was learning himself, I kind of figured that the next generation would all be super coders by the time they left school.  Yet that doesn’t seem to be happening in fact  the exact opposite is occurring.

Computers used to be basically boxes of electronics which didn’t do anything until you programmed then.  I have a copy of a magazine about computer games from 1980 and it consists of page after page of computer code.  You had to type in all this to create the computer game, we had no choice if we wanted to play games then we had to learn the code that made them work.  Nowadays computers are so user friendly you simply don’t need any knowledge to make them work.

However one of the more worrying aspects is that our schools are not teaching anyone to code.  The parents think that kids are being taught such useful stuff in their ICT lessons but mostly they are messing around with Word processors, spreadsheets and DTP packages.  Still useful skills but hardly a digital masterclass turning out a generation of computer programmers.

To be fair schools have realised this, and are trying to address this but there are fundamental problems.  The classroom and the digital world are at the moment rather too distant.  The awesome potential of social networking is seen as a distraction to teaching that exists on phones and portable devices carried around by the children.  Their approach to sites like Facebook and Twitter is warn against them. Highlight the dangers and then block access to them from the school network.  The geeky kids find a way around these blocks using techniques and software such as this site illustrates - http://www.theninjaproxy.org/.

The irony is that for many learning about proxies, VPNs and IP addresses comes not from their school lessons but from trying to circumvent the school firewall.

Helping my kids in the kitchen

Last Sunday was a lovely one here at our house! It was one of those beautiful Sunday evenings, nice weather – not too hot, not too cold – perfect for a nice picnic in our garden.

Because of that my husband and myself decided to do something about it, so we gathered together our 3 kids and made a nice picnic with all you could imagine. It was so fun that I can’t even begin to describe what we felt that day.

The first thing we did was to make some really nice sandwiches that could last the long day if so we wanted. But to be honest, after the first few ones I believe we had more than enough! Even our kids who usually like to eat a lot – do they ever stop!? – had enough sandwiches!

One thing that we did miss and we promised we would take care of it, is that we didn’t have a good hand blender or tower blender to prepare some nice shakes and stuff like that to take with us into our lovely picnic. I’ve heard about this good website called Woyano.com where they have some lovely blender recommendations so I believe it might be worth checking it out.

Oh well, what can we do – even without a lovely shake we still had a very nice time out there!

Good templates for charity organizations

Generally speaking, when you are planning to develop a nice looking website using a template, then the sought of the end product should be the one that results the sales for your company or perhaps service. Although may not be the situation, where there truly are non profit website templates available for charities and various non profit creating folks or businesses. Fortunately these days the price tag on website development offers fallen drastically due to the large amount involving competitors, and now you are able to launch any website along with no money.

If you’re certainly an individual who goes the non profit business, then you definitely should be commended for this thoughtless act, and even more so when you wish to build a non profit site for your company or even party. A high level charity, then in the past, taking care of such small financial constraints and also depending on donations for advertising cash, it was difficult in order to launch a site with the sources which were available to you. Finding an expert ended up being absolutely unthinkable in fact it is good information which times have modified along with authorized charities also to create websites using non profit website templates.

As a result of changes in the way we might build a website, it is currently easy to do so with no HTML knowledge, making use of synthetic cleverness and just a rather small sum of cash. You will find in fact websites that you could check out that will assist you inside starting a web design templates for your business or charitable organization, which commence with non profit templates. Nonprofit website templates need to assimilate an area where individuals are in a position to volunteer for numerous projects and programs. All of the in connection with helping out process should be shown on the actual website, ensuring it really is visible and easy to access.

Yoga for Mind and Body Peace

Definition of peace is not same for all of us. For some peace means inner and spiritual relaxation, for others it means to respect and treat everyone alike irrespective of their race, gender, culture, color, etc. But here we’re just talking about mind and body peace which you can attain through Yoga.

Heard a lot about Yoga and its benefits, but haven’t practiced it anytime? Now is the time. If you’re looking for peace, then it’s the right time you start doing yoga at least once a day.

Release Stress
The first and foremost thing you’ll experience doing yoga is inner peace. Your stress, worry, and annoyance will be put to rest. With Yoga, you learn to control your mind and start to live in the present.

You start being content with small things. Say for example, if you kitty uses an automatic litter box, you would be glad to have taught her to use it. It’s just an example.

Empathy
Being in others shoes is what we call empathy. Yoga makes it possible for us to understand others needs and respect them. Your conflicts with people around you would cease, and you’ll be a happy and caring person all over again.

Self-Confidence and Personal Relationships
Yoga increases self-confidence and encourages people to improve their relationships with people around you. You become selfless and are more focused on achieving your goals and targets.

Body peace is directly related to mind peace. The more your mind is at peace; the better it is for your body. Perform Yoga and gain peace

Teaching Kids How to Really Understand Computers

If you were in school like me during the 70s and 80s – computers probably didn’t form a huge part of your childhood.  Sure there were eventually a few home PCs like the Sinclair Spectrum and Atari, but nothing online and pretty basic games.  I often thought as I got older that the next generations would whizz passed me in technological understanding but it simply hasn’t happened.

You see with the very first home computers, you got absolutely nowhere unless you knew how to use them.  The concept of point and click would get you nothing, switching on the computer would generally get you a blank screen until you told it what to do.  Nowadays a four year old can be sat in front of a computer and get going in a matter of minutes.  They are just too easy.  To play a computer game on the first home computers you often had to type in the  whole program first.  I took three days to type in a Text adventure called the Hobbit before I could play it.  I have to say though their games today look a whole lot better !!!

Of course we had to learn or nothing happened.  Todays children generally know very little about computers and how they work.  Sure they can play games, use a word processor and simple stuff.  Ask them anything like setting up a network card or what a web proxy server is and you’ll get a blank look.

Children are usually only taught to use stuff like word processors and spreadsheets.  This is fine but to understand about computers you need to learn more – computer programming is a great skill to teach a child and makes them see how a computer really works.

A Childhood with Wine?

On a recent trip to wine country with my wife and son, I found my wife talking to a woman in the tasting room who had her own young children playing outside.  They were making plans for a playdate later that afternoon.

As it turns out, that woman was the winemaker’s wife where we were tasting.  Evidently they have 3 kids of their own which helps to explain why they had a BBQ area and other kid friendly activities at a winery.  We got along well enough that we now support them by giving their wine as wine gifts to all of our friends and family.

It did get me to thinking though-what would it be like to grow up at a winery? On a vineyard?  Would you have an enlightened view of social justice because of working with seasonal laborers, or would you only be interested in the bottom line?

Why Sexual Education Should Not Start in Primary School

You’ve probably experienced being asked by either your kids or your nephews or nieces of where babies come from. And you utter a few awkward words about the birds and the bees as you look back to try to remember what sexual education lessons you’ve learned while you were young to help you answer the question. Then you resign to the situation by simply saying that it’s complicated to explain at that moment and that they would find out soon as they grow up.

Primary school students have an inquisitive mind in nature. They ask about everything, why the sky is blue, why milk tastes funny when you forget to place it back in the fridge, and so many other things. This has brought about much debate on whether or not sexual education should be taught as early as primary school.

There are learning institutions that offer courses on sexual education as early as primary school level. While other learning institutions wait until children reach the age of puberty or adolescence to orient teach them about the topic. Since primary students still spend a big amount of their time with parents rather than in school, sexual education for primary students should be designed for both children and parents. This way parents would also know how to answer once faced with questions pertaining to the topic.

Teach Your Kids About Politics Early – Become a Precinct Chair

One of the best ways to teach your children about the nations political process and power system is to actively take part in it.  I don’t mean just turn out to vote once every 2 or 4 years, I mean actively participate in the political party of your choice at a local level.  There are numerous ways to do this, but by far the best way is to become a precinct chair.

The precinct is the smallest voting block, consisting of a neighborhood of maybe two thousand voters, and the precinct chairman is the basic grassroots official of both the Republican and Democratic parties.  By being actively involved in this role your kids will not be able to help but learn by osmosis the inner workings of our major political parties.  In fact, growing up in a household with this level of political activity they will no doubt be better educated about the way our democracy works then the vast majority of adults!

Precinct chairs regularly engage in volunteer activities with their respective parties.  This is also a great education opportunity for your children.  Not only do they learn how things really work by rubbing shoulders with your towns movers and shakers, they can also potentially make valuable friendships via networking with these people that can hold them in good stead later in life.

Take the extra steps and get personally involved in politics.  By exploring your civic duty in this manner you are both providing a positive role model for your kids, and potentially making a difference in your local community.  That truly is a win-win situation.  Who knows, you may even enjoy it!  Imagine if you took the next step and became a statewide or national elected officials, that would really provide the ultimate political education for you and your children alike!

Kids, Jobs and Peace

It is important that kids study history. It is history that teaches the most valuable lessons. If we don’t learn from the past we are doomed (as the quote goes) to repeat the same mistakes in the future. One of those lessons is how poverty, employment and conflict are all tightly interconnected.

Every decade in America, and to a less extent in Europe there are riots. Although right wing politicians are always at pains to say otherwise, all riots are connected to poverty and unemployment. When people, and especially young people have no work and their prospects look bleak then they feel they have nothing to lose. It is then that it is easy to spark a riot. The incendiary spark may be a race related incident or a new law. When the combination of unemployment and the feeling of nothing to lose are added to the equation conflagaration will result. This is the case of the French Revolution in 1789.

Politicians like Hitler knew this very well. He stirred up anti-semiticism and a feeling of injustice regarding the unfair payments for World War One with a working class that had few jobs to get him into power.

We must teach children the mistake of listening to hate mongers, and we must give children real skills so that they can secure employment in the future. We must teach them to be cocmputer programmers, how to do CNC milling, how to fix a car, how to design consumer products, how to look for ways to improve efficiency in industry. In short, how to innovate and how to be excelllent. If young people can get work they enjoy they are not likely to blame a minority for their condition in life. They are not likely to vote for politicians who espouse war as the solution to problems.

It is all there in history – look it up if you don’t believe me.

Teaching Peace Through Wine?

Wine, youth and teaching peace don’t necessarily go together do they?

I had a conversation with Bill Lara, who owns a website which reviews a bunch of the cheap wine club choices out there and he told me of a really cool development in the Gaza Strip.  Gaza is, of course, one of the poorest neighborhoods in the world by all accounts because of the ongoing conflict between Israeli’s and Palestineans.  It’s unfortunate on one level and a global catastrophy on another, but overall I wonder why two countries can’t get together to simply do the right thing.  He talked at length about how there is now a wine coop between the locals and Israeli business interests to produce Kosher wine for the Tel Aviv population, while also helping the local economic situation.

Science and Peace

It is never good to lie to children; however, there are truths that are unpalatable and unsuitable for children to hear until they get a little bit older. The world is a magical place to a child and it is a shame to destroy this wonderment with the world for the sake of telling children grim details of how people do awful things to each other as well as to other animals and the environment in general.

One area where as a child reaches puberty, he or she can benefit from the introduction of some mention of the demons of humanity’s behavior is science. It should be instilled at an early age the double-edged sword that technology and science represents. Science and math are often thought of as ‘pure’ academic subjects that are concerned with finding better ways of understanding the world; of making more accurate models of the processes of nature: in other words, pushing the boundaries of knowledge.

Scientists don’t live in a vacuum. Of course they become more aware often as they are doing their research how the results might be used by the military. Einstein was quick to realize that his work in nuclear fission might lead mankind closer to a weapon with a capacity to kill that was hitherto undreamt of. At the time he felt the threat of Nazi occupation of the World justified the danger of helping to develop the atom bomb.

Sometimes, the reverse can happen. Soviet Scientists Dr. B. R. Lazarenko and Dr. N. I. Lazarenko were looking to harness the power of electricity to jump through space as a weapon to be employed in World War Two. It was in 1943 and the Allies were already on the verge of victory and so any new weapons were also being stockpiled for the inevitable future conflict between the USA and Russia.

Instead of developing a death ray, the Russian scientists pioneered EDM or electrical discharge machining. This is an invaluable process where electrical sparks are used to cut very hard metals. EDM technology has completely changed the automobile and aerospace industries.

Nuclear weapons and EDM technology represent examples of the double edge of science to harm and to help mankind. Often scientific breakthroughs are accidental but the application of the new knowledge is hardly ever naive or haphazard. This is what children should understand when they study science. It is a discipline that is inherently free of ethics until its application; and that’s when ethics are of profound significance.

Playing Politics

Children have to learn politics. Indeed, it is unavoidable. Kids learn politics in the school playground and at home with their parents and siblings. Politics is the presentation of information to influence a situation. It is winning an argument that leads to further consequences. It is the consequences part that adults call ’power’. Mao Ze Dong famously said that political power was born through the barrel of a gun. Coercion is the easiest way to win an argument and get what you want. However, it is the worst type of politics as it breeds more violence, and in the end will result in ruin and destruction for the bully.

Rather children should learn debating skills and the analytical skills to look at a situation from different points of view. They must learn the inherent bias in all prersentation, and must learn to probe by asking the right questions.

Thus, when it announced in the Daily Mail on April 9th that the government proposed to force people planning to build a conservatory or change a boiler to also make energy efficiency improvements to their house at the same time at their own expense, a child should look closer at the story. The newspaper labelled this policy of the ’Green Deal in the UK’ as merely a hike of 10% on building costs. The newspaper also goes on to point out that it is an affront and government interference to tell people what they should do to their home. The newspaper has a reputation for stories that are designed to cause indignation in the reader.

Children should look at this story and ask questions. What are these changes the government want to enforce? What will they do? Why are they insisting on these changes? The answers are that the changes are improving loft and wall insulation. Why? To make homes more energy efficient. The result will be a reduction in home bills for heating – up to £150 a month. This is to meet UK goals to reduce carbon emissions in line with international treaties to stop global warming. So the policy is meant to help everyone, and those affected will eventually make money through the savings anyway.

Understanding the issues, and seeing through the rhetoric is the best way to understand politics.

Stop Racism by Teaching Children about other Cultures

They say the root cause of racism is fear. It is fear of the ‘other’, the ‘alien’ that leads to hatred for other races. This fear is based upon ignorance. Because people have little true experience of another culture they tend to view that other culture as inferior and by extension the people from that other culture as worthy of contempt. As result people come up with racist terms that become common parlance and racism enters the linguistic level.

It is important to never allow your child to use such words. I won’t even write which words I mean because they are offensive and shouldn’t even be written in defense of tolerance and mutual understanding. When I was young my parents took me to India. I was shocked by the chaos and the strangeness of the place. But eventually, I learned to love the culture and the people. Even though I was only 12 years old I realized that my country was no better than India. And that Indian culture was beautiful.

Now I have a child. I want him to also appreciate the different cultures of the world, and also the different people of the world. I’m going to be a bit more gentle with my son. First we are going to Laem Set beach in Koh Samui. We will enjoy the beach, the the animals and visit the nearby temples. Then when he is acclimatized to Asian culture we are going into the heart of the chaos – Varanasi in India and we are going to watch the celebrations for divali.

My greatest hope is that my son will learn valuable lessons from this journey and will not be a racist not because he is told not to be one but because he has experienced first hand the beauty of foreign cultures and peoples.
